Secure emergency communication at sea
Denmark has more than 7,300 km of coastline with associated waters, and maritime traffic here in critical situations needs to be able to call for assistance if they have an emergency.
Cibicom designed, established and deployed the new digitalised coastal radio system in Denmark in 2015, in which large number of aerial positions are linked to Cibicom’s secure national backbone infrastructure.
The emergency radio system “Coastal Radio”, also known as “Lyngby Radio”, offers peace of mind to both private boats and the high volume of commercial shipping in Danish territorial waters.
This civil emergency response system is now an integrated element of the Danish Defence’s tasks, which alongside Coastal Radio also include protection and rescue services at sea.
The Danish Defence is handling the day-to-day deployment of the emergency services, while Cibicom is responsible for its technical operation.
