Denmark has more than 7,300 km. of coastline with appurtenant waters and maritime traffic, which in critical situations need to be able to call for assistance.
Cibicom designed, established and deployed the new digitalised coastal radio system in Denmark in 2015, in which a large number of aerial positions are linked to Cibicom’s secure national backbone infrastructure.
The emergency radio system, “the Coastal Radio”, also known as “Lyngby Radio”, offers peace of mind to both private boats and the high volume of commercial ships in Danish territorial waters.
This civil emergency response system is now an integrated element of the Danish Defence’s tasks, which alongside the Coastal Radio also includes protection and rescue services at sea.
The Danish Defence is handling the day-to-day deployment of the emergency services, while Cibicom is responsible for its technical operation.
