The story of Cibicom as an organization begins with the first radio broadcast in Denmark

1854 The Telegraph Service is established with the first Danish telegraph line from Helsingør over Copenhagen and to Altona (Danish until 1864). OUR HISTORY 1854 1902 Blaavand Lighthouse is equipped with the first coastal radio system (powered by the Navy). OUR HISTORY 1907 The first wireless telephony is conducted from the Coastal Radio (Lyngby Radio) in Gladsaxe by Peter L. Jensen. P. O. Pedersen, and Valdemar Poulsen have set up Lyngby Radio as a private trial-radio station. OUR HISTORY 1908 OXA is set up by the Navy as the national naval radio station, but it gets instanty connected to the Danish telegraph and can be used by private ships. OUR HISTORY 1917 The Telegraph Service acquires Blaavand Radio at the same time as Lyngby Radio. The Telegraph Service takes over all technical work on wireless communication in Denmark as a result of the Telecommunications Act of 1907. OUR HISTORY 1923 The first Radiophony trial for "Denmark's Radio Club" is carried out by Lyngby Radio by the Telegraph Service with a Lorenz bow transmitter, normally used for telephony to Bornholm. OUR HISTORY 1925 The State Radiophony broadcasts for the first time on April 1st with singer Emil Holm in the lead.
And with the creation of Radio Technical Service under the Post & Telegraph Service, the foundation of Cibicom was a reality. OUR HISTORY 1927 The two governmental organizations - the Postal Service and the Telegraph Service - are merged into one entity, the P&T (Post & Telegraph Service). OUR HISTORY 1948 Danish actress, Lily Broberg, presents Denmark's first television show during a major television show in Tivoli, visited by more than 100,000 Danes. OUR HISTORY 1950 The State Radiophony gets its own technical department. This will take over the engineers, who were previously employed by P&T.
The transmission up to the transmitters and their operation are still handled by P&T Radio Technical Service. OUR HISTORY 1951 The radio uses FM broadcasting technology and broadcasts two radio channels: Program 1 and 2. OUR HISTORY 1955 The Gladsaxe transmitter is inaugurated with minister speeches, and most of Zealand can now watch TV.
At the end of the year, the TV broadcast mast on Fyn is also ready. OUR HISTORY 1956 The television station Søsterhøj at Aarhus is inaugurated. OUR HISTORY 1957 Southern Jutland gets its own Rangstrup-transmitter. OUR HISTORY 1958 TV broadcasting masts open at Aalborg and Holstebro. OUR HISTORY 1959 Statsradiofonien changes its name to Denmark's Radio (later DR). The penultimate TV broadcast mast is ready at Næstved. OUR HISTORY 1960 Bornholm gets a television broadcast mast, and thus the whole country is able to watch tv. OUR HISTORY 1987 The Post & Telegraph Service is disbanded and its telephone services, including international telephony, are transferred to the State Telecommunications Service. OUR HISTORY 1988 TV2 aires in Denmark on October 1st as a partially commercial-financed public service competitor for Denmark's Radio. A brand new television network is being built for this purpose. OUR HISTORY 1990 The State Telecommunications Service changes its name to Telecom A/S.
At the end of the year, the parliament decides to establish Tele Denmark, and P&T's broadcast organization becomes a branch in Tele Denmark. OUR HISTORY 1998 Tele Danmark (TDC) is sold to Ameritech and the broadcast organization is separated into an independent company, BSD (Broadcast Service Denmark), located in Taastrup, which is jointly owned by DR and TV2. OUR HISTORY 2009 BSD establishes a new nationwide digital television network, and the analogue TV signal is closed in Denmark. OUR HISTORY 2010 Teracom Group AB acquires Broadcast Service Danmark A/S, including all masts, properties and fiber networks of DR and TV2. OUR HISTORY 2015 Teracom A/S wins the task of digitalising the Coastal Radio (Lyngby Radio) and takes over the technical operation and monitoring of the emergency radio system for the Danish territorial sea. OUR HISTORY 2017 Through the subsidiary Digital Radio Teracom A/S, Teracom wins the rights to establish and operate a new nationwide commercial digital radio network - called DAB block 1 - which broadcasts in the new DAB+ format.
The company is renamed Digital Radio Cibicom A/S in 2018. OUR HISTORY 2018 Teracom establishes the first national IoT network in Denmark based on LoRaWAN technology using its own transmitters.
Teracom A/S in Denmark is sold at the end of the year to Agilitas (UK) and changes its name to Cibicom A/S. OUR HISTORY 2019 Cibicom A/S purchases Relacom's Danish activities at the beginning of the year.
The company becomes a 100% owned subsidiary of Cibicom A/S named Cibicom Services A/S. OUR HISTORY 2020 Cibicom upgrades the nationwide digital television network to the DVB-T2 standard and makes room for the 5G mobile network on 700 MHz frequency band. The entire upgrade operation is done in less than 24 hours.
Cibicom A/S aquires Norwegian ICE Group's Danish business ICE Danmark - also known as Net1 - and its national 450MHz based 4G mobile network.
