Cibicom is ready with a nationwide IoT network

Cibicom (formerly Teracom) has now completed a national IoT infrastructure covering more than 95% of Denmark. The infrastructure consists not only of IoT radio coverage established through Cibicom's 300 meter high masts, but also of an underlying IT management set-up that has been expanded with additional redundancy to increase the robustness of the overall IoT network. With this national and reliable IoT infrastructure, it is now far simpler and safer for public organizations and private companies to leverage the enormous potential inherent in the open LoRaWAN IoT standard.
Cibicom, which currently owns and operates the Danish radio/television broadcasting network, has special competence in the construction and operation of socially important radio communication solutions. The new IoT network is built with the same advanced design requirements as Cibicom's other radio networks, which include the emergency radio service Kystradion (Coastal Radio) used for maritime ship communication in Danish waters.
Cibicom's CEO Martin Løbel says, “We see a great potential within IoT for Cibicom and already have a large number of municipalities and companies using our IoT networks. Over the past year, we have built up a solid IoT network, which covers most of Denmark.
We are already part of the critical infrastructure in Denmark today with our radio/television broadcasting network and Coastal Radio. And in the near future a reliable IoT network will be just as important to all of us as the emergency preparedness and mobile networks are today. And building and operating socially important networks is precisely Cibicom's core competence and therefore we also see ourselves as a significant player in the IoT market in the future.”
Martin Løbel concludes, “We are pleased that we can now offer the conditions for even more people to get started using IoT and benefitting from the great advantages that the global, open LoRaWAN standard offers, both technically and economically, thanks in part to the fast growing ecosystem of sensor suppliers found in the global market.”
